How to import a list of questions to the Q&A / Interview?

It is now possible to make a batch import of questions for your Dilmot Q&A or interview

When you want to insert a bunch of questions for the Q&A / Interview that you would like to publish with Dilmot, this new feature will save you a lot of time. The alternative to using this bulk import method would be to enter a question at a time, using the form.

Just prepare a simple text file with the list of questions you want to import into the stream. For example:

Ann: How long ago did you start preparing your last movie?

John: What did you think about the critics you received in Cannes?

Kim: When are you planning your next tour in Spain?

The syntax has 3 rules:
- One question per line
- Separate the name of the person and the question with a colon before the question
- Leave a blank line between questions

Then, save the file as a .txt file and go ahead and import it. The menu shows inside the admin stream page.

If there is any problem, cancel and make sure that the .txt file is properly formated. If it is like you like, just confirm the action.

There is also the possibility to import questions and answers, a closed stream. But for the moment this action is reserved to premium accounts.

Are there any questions from the floor? Open Q and A web with Dilmot

In a similar way to what you do in a conference panel when you say “are there any questions from the floor?” to the people attending a public meeting (source: ldoceonline) or “open up the floor to any questions” (source) there is an on-line tool that allows you to do a similar thing in the Internet.

Here is a great explanation about what it means to open the floor for questions, from the people at Phrasemix: http://www.phrasemix.com/phrases/open-the-floor-for-questions

Moderating discussion between the audience and the expert or celebrity

Unlike chat platforms, Dilmot offers the possibility to moderate the discussion in your website. It is necessary to filter questions when you are opening the turn of questions to a large audience, and especially if this large audience is the web at large.

Every question can be discarded, edited or approved. The guest will only see approved questions so this wlll speed up the process significantly Should the question need any modification, this can be done right at the same moment.

Get questions via a Twitter Hashtag into the Dilmot Q and A live session

We are pleased to announce a new feature in Dilmot that we believe will help you to broaden your reach and get more participation. Starting today it is possible to automatically receive questions sent via Twitter, using the #hashtag of your choice:

1. Decide the hashtag you want to use. E.g. #telediagnosis

2. Put the hashtag in the stream settings panel

3. Promote the hashtag. Probably the best way is to put it in your twitter account as well as in the interviewee account. Announcing it in your blog/website will surely add to it. E.g. “online interview with Ann Cox, send your question using hashtag #telediagnosis http://bit.ly/mxkFBv”

4. Give it a test! write a tweet with the hashtag and the question. E.g. “#telediagnosis what are the scenarios where it works best?”

5. In one minute it will show up in your question list within Dilmot.

Notes and recommendations:

– It will work best if the #hashtag is not being used previously. You can check this by using Twitter search form: http://twitter.com/search-advanced

– The #hashtag can be placed anywhere in the tweet

– Before the interview starts, the app will “pick-up” the tweets every 10 minutes. Once the interview has started, this will be done every 2 minutes

– The tweets will be shown in the incoming questions panel and they can be moderated and edited like any other question. The icon will be linked to the Twitter user profile.

– It can be a good idea to add the link to the interview in the tweet “#telediagnosis what are the scenarios where it works best? http://bit.ly/mxkFBv”

We hope you like it! and don’t hesitate to let us know what you think about it. Opening an account in Dilmot is free, so we encourage you to try it out.
