Use Dilmot to publish recurrent Q&A’s

We are proud to announce our new feature “duplicate stream“.

It copies all the configuration of a stream to a new one. It does not copy questions or comments, just the configuration items. This is very convenient for organising recurrent Q&A’s, for example, daily or weekly chats, because you save time: no need to set the name, image, avatar, twitter hashtag, etc every time. It does also copy the moderators authorised for the stream.

In order to use it, go to the list of streams and while you have the mouse on top of the line with the stream, you will see the option “duplicate” will show up, as you can see in the screenshot detail below:

A Free WordPress Theme to publish your live Q&A chats

We presented a while ago our new plugin to embed live Q&A chats in your web powered by WordPress.

In order to make your life easier, we are releasing a WordPress Theme that will help you to better organise the streams in your web. You can download it in this link

Live Q&A Portal for WordPress made with Dilmot WP Free Theme

We have created a clean theme that can serve as a good basis for your customization. We recommend that, if you would like to make changes to it, you do it in a separate theme as a child-theme of Dilmot’s. In this guide you can learn how to create a child theme in WordPress.

The stylesheets are based on the Twitter Bootstrap design framework. You will be able to easily change the font and colours. Needless to say, that the theme is responsive, since that is the philosophy behind Bootstrap.

Are you ready to start with your Dilmot-powered Q&A chats? Drop us a line and we will help you to get it up and running.

How to make a live chat Q&A in WordPress?

We are happy to announce that our official plugin to make a live Q&A chat inside a WordPress install is available. You can download it in this page:

Organise a live Q&A chat easily inside your WordPress install using Dilmot Plugin

With this plugin you will be able to automate the publication of the Q&A streams into your WordPress install.

Why use Dilmot to manage your live Q&A’s?
There are a lot of custom features that will help you manage the live Q&A:

Use Twitter to receive questions: Just define a hashtag to import those tweets into the Q&A incoming questions list
– Invite a guest, just by sending a link to her
– Edit the content of the questions received: fix typos, enhance grammar, remove unnecessary texts
– Change the order of the questions: There may be some questions that you would like to move up or down in the list
– Make the chat private so that only the people you have shared the password with will be able to participate
– Notify to your email account the new questions that have been received
Add images and videos to your answers
Put a live video on top of the Q&A so the guest can answer verbally

We are very excited to give this option to you. Please let us know your experience and feedback using the Dilmot Plugin for WordPress.

Attach image to the answer in the Dilmot Q&A

It is now possible to attach an image to the answer in the Q&A hosted with dilmot.com.

In the incoming question box in the Stream Panel you will now see that an image can be attached:

Attach an image to the answer to the Q&A hosted by dilmot.com

Attach an image to the answer to the Q&A hosted by dilmot.com

As soon as you attach it, it will be shown in a thumbnail:

The uploaded image is seen as a thumbnail

The uploaded image is seen as a thumbnail

And it can be changed if you would like to do so.

In the public page where the Q&A is hosted, you will see the image inside the answer bubble:

The image attached to the answer is shown inside the bubble

In addition to this method, there is another way to insert an image, and this is by adding the html code for it. But if you want to use an html code, the image has to be hosted in a server.

For example:

<img src=https://www.dilmot.com/images/my-image.png />

This is explained in this post: Add an external image or video to your answer

This was our quick hint for today, if you would like to get deeper knowledge about how public Q&A’s work, we invite you to read the Organizer’s manual to the live Q&A
