How to import a list of questions to the Q&A / Interview?

It is now possible to make a batch import of questions for your Dilmot Q&A or interview

When you want to insert a bunch of questions for the Q&A / Interview that you would like to publish with Dilmot, this new feature will save you a lot of time. The alternative to using this bulk import method would be to enter a question at a time, using the form.

Just prepare a simple text file with the list of questions you want to import into the stream. For example:

Ann: How long ago did you start preparing your last movie?

John: What did you think about the critics you received in Cannes?

Kim: When are you planning your next tour in Spain?

The syntax has 3 rules:
- One question per line
- Separate the name of the person and the question with a colon before the question
- Leave a blank line between questions

Then, save the file as a .txt file and go ahead and import it. The menu shows inside the admin stream page.

Select the file with the questions in the above explained format.

The imported questions will be shown for your confirmation beforehand

If there is any problem, cancel and make sure that the .txt file is properly formated. If it is like you like, just confirm the action.

There is also the possibility to import questions and answers, a closed stream. But for the moment this action is reserved to premium accounts.

Embed a live Q&A session in a blog or website

There are many reasons why you would like to have a live conversation with your readers, and embed it in your existing website or blog. Today we would like to feature a live chat that is complementary to a Google Hangout. As you can see in the image below, Waiomizik is embedding the webchat right below his live streaming session done with Google Hangouts on air:

What is a Hangout on air?

A Hangout on air is a web application that belongs to Google. It is used to make a live video stream with a webcam. And this live video stream can take place between several persons. Because YouTube belongs to Google, then you can broadcast the Google Hangout on air inside of a YouTube embedded viewer.

What do you need to do something like this?

– A Google/YouTube account that will allow you to set-up the Google Hangout on Air
– A Dilmot account, that will allow you to set-up the live Q&A chat. See a tutorial here: How can I publish a live Q&A session on the Internet?

Both of these applications, Hangouts on air (YouTube) and Dilmot, allow embedding of their webapps inside of other webs, so this is all you have to do: embed the Hangout video and embed the Dilmot stream.

In the image above, you can see that there is a countdown to the start of the Hangout. When the Hangout will start, this box will show the live streaming video.

Below the Google Hangout box, there is the Dilmot stream of webchat, that will be updated automatically every time there is a new question and answer. This webchat will allow the broadcasters to receive questions that they would like to respond during the video streaming. So, Dilmot works as a complementary webapp to Hangout on air.

If you need further help, do not hesitate to get in touch with our team, and we will make our best to help you organise a successful Hangout + Dilmot live event.

Reader participation in your website: Crowdsourced interviews (crowdinterviewing)

We live in the time of crowdsourcing.

Crowdsourcing is the name of the game

Q&A crowdsourcing with Quora

Travel advice crowdsourcing with TripAdvisor

New projects and start-ups crowdfunding (crowdsourcing), with projects such as Kickstarter or Lánzanos

Dilmot brings you a new type of crowdsourcing: make a crowdsourced interview. Get the questions from the floor! You can combine journalism with reader participation in a unique way, because Dilmot allows you to combine questions that you make and also that the visitors make. The visitors will be able to send their questions to the guest. Normally this platform is used by the web versions of newspapers and magazines that want to engage users with new content and give them the exclusive opportunity to talk with VIPs.

You can publish the crowdsourced interview as a continuous stream, so the questions and answers flow in real-time without any delay or need to refresh the browser, unlike what happens with many traditional solutions.

We could coin the term crowdinterviewing, following the same logic as crowdfunding 🙂

Merge several Facebook pages into one

Many clients ask us how can they merge several FB pages into one.

Well, Facebook have designed an easy process to do that. You can select the page you would like to keep, and the page or pages that you would like to merge into it.

Use this link https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/?id=238908726149664 so you can get rid of the duplicate pages and migrate its fans to the new page. Great tool!
